Take me back to 1204

Tourism are taking over Visit Britain – the Britain visitor centre in Regent Street – for a week.

The prime site promotion will kick off with a medieval theme party for the UK travel trade. The chairman of the1204-2004 organising committee, former Senator Nigel Quérée, will open the week, explaining the relevance of the break with France for the Island’s history.

Tourism’s David de Carteret will also speak, explaining what the celebrations mean to the tourism industry. The party will set the scene for the highlight of next year’s celebrations, the Jersey Revels, a three-day medieval fete on the Gorey seafront.

Revels organiser Beth Lloyd got in the mood at the start of her journey to London.

Despite donning period dress, she drew the line at taking authenticity to the letter.

Travelling to London in the 13th century would have been an arduous and lengthy journey, so Mrs Lloyd hailed a London taxi to catch her flight to Gatwick.
