Quality Property Maintenance Limited brought actions against 20 people in the Petty Debts yesterday to try to claim around £195 per person for parking on land owned by C Le Masurier.The company is employed by Le Masurier’s to look after some of its car parks, which includes the one in James Street near the Odeon Cinema.But Relief Magistrate Eric Tricot adjourned the cases for six weeks.

He said that other cases which were due to be brought today would also be put off for six weeks.’I want to give you time to take some proper legal advice on the legal enforceability of your claim,’ Mr Tricot told the company’s representative.

‘The court is concerned about actions of this type that are becoming more and more frequent.’The cases are now due to be heard on 26 November.
