Committee to face barrage of ferry questions

St John Deputy Phil Rondel has tabled a series of questions to Harbours and Airport president Senator Len Norman on the issue.

The Deputy wants the Senator to tell the States, on Tuesday, the committee’s reasons for opening up the route to two operators earlier this year.The Harbours president will also be asked if it is his committee’s intention to reinstate a single operator on the route.

The St John Deputy also wants to know whether a service level agreement is to be put in place for all commercial operators who service the St Malo sea route.Meanwhile, Senator Paul Le Claire will ask if the Harbours and Airport Committee knows whether or not any local ferry companies have expressed an interest in Emeraude Lines to the French court-appointed official in charge of Emeraude’s affairs.Senator Le Claire will also ask Senator Norman to provide details of any interest from local companies.Deputy Rondel will also ask Senator Norman if his committee is considering reducing harbour dues for this winter and if so, by how much.
