Move to boost Third World food producers

Tonight a small sub committee of Christian Aid in Jersey are to launch their campaign, ‘Jersey, a Fairtrade Island’, which should set shoppers on their way to buying Fairtrade goods.The Jersey Fairtrade group has been set up to encourage people to buy products which offer a fair and guaranteed price for their Third World producers.Anyone who buys tea, coffee, fruit, honey or cocoa will be affected and the group are asking people to look out for the Fairtrade logo on the packaging which identifies items which are produced while upholding basic standards for growers, producers and employees.
