Take control of Emeraude, States Members urged

About 150 members of the group met toward the end of last week and agreed the States should not dismiss out-of-hand the group’s request that the Island’s government consider taking a 51 per cent controlling interest in the company. The group members also decided to lobby States Members ahead of next Tuesday’s vote of no confidence in the Harbours and Airport Committee.

The group are supporting the move brought by Senator Ted Vibert to remove the committee from office for allowing the seizure of Emeraude flagship Solidor V because of £300,000 unpaid harbour dues.

However, overall Emeraude’s debts are reported to be anything from about £3m to over £10m.The Save Emeraude group’s next meeting is on Monday 3 October, the day before the no confidence vote, and an invitation has been sent out to all States Members to attend.
