The weapon, a replica BB firing Heckler and Koch rifle, was found abandoned by a road in St Peter after it was used to fire plastic ball bearings at a passing car.It damaged the vehicle in La Grande Piece at around 9.45 pm on Sunday, but Insp Mark Houzé said that the person who fired the gun was potentially also at great risk.He said that a male driver had heard objects that sounded like stones hit his car as he drove through the residential area.
A little way down the road, he stopped to find the car had been damaged and returned to the spot of the attack, where he recovered the gun and later handed it into the police.
