Health in search for new chief

The successful applicant will be accountable for more than 2,000 staff and a budget of £100 million. It has been 18 months since Anton Skinner was appointed acting chief officer of the department following the early retirement of Graham Jennings through ill-health.Health president Senator Stuart Syvret said that they had wanted to wait for a new Policy and Resources chief officer to be in post before a successor to Mr Jennings was found. Now that Bill Ogley had been appointed, he said, the recruitment process for Health could begin.Senator Syvret said that it had not been ideal, waiting so long for recruitment to begin.

‘I don’t think the department has suffered,’ he said, ‘but it is always better for an organisation to have continuity and stability in its leadership.’
