If work goes according to plan, from 17 November the one-way route between Burrard Street and Beresford Street will be reversed, doing away with the filter in turn where Halkett Place joins Beresford Street. From today workmen are building traffic calming measures in the form of raised tarmac strips in Beresford Street to create pedestrian crossings and to slow down traffic. The new traffic system, which also includes creating a pedestrian crossing in Waterloo Street, new bicycle and motorcycle parking and unloading bays, will be on trial for a year before Public Services decide whether it should be permanent.
