Break-in man dug a tunnel in £16 theft

In the Royal Court on Friday Joao De Sousa (22) was sentenced to 15 months in prison and will also be deported to Madeira upon his release.He admitted breaking into the building merchants in Commercial Buildings on 21 July and stealing £16.

He also admitted twice breaking into Rawlinson and Hunter Chartered Accountants, Pier Road, on 9 June and 10 July and going equipped to commit a crime in Romerils car park on 17 July.Crown Advocate Conrad Yates said that on 15 July tenants in the flats above heard noises coming from the Norman’s store below and called the police.

When they arrived they found De Sousa hiding between some boards and water pipes.
