Marketing and advertising agency OTL recently secured the nationwide campaign for The Mortgage Group.
It is currently in its test phase and a number of adverts are being aired on satellite television and in the national press before the official launch in January.
nd as well as securing the lucrative contract, OTL has recently moved into a new headquarters in Hill Street.
The company – which also has offices in London and Marbella – has spent £200,000 in creating OTL House, which becomes the creative and administrative hub for all of the company’s activities.
We are now going out and getting business and bringing it back to Jersey,’ said OTL’s chairman Michael Timms.
‘Although 70 per cent of our turnover comes from UK and European clients, OTL’s nerve centre is here.
Not only has the company a long association with the Island but we find clients love coming here.
We presented our campaign to the Mortgage Group at OTL House and they were very impressed – both with the Island and what we had to offer.
Jersey is still seen as a ‘sexy’ place away from the Island and it also has a reputation as a centre of excellence because of our finance industry.
But Jersey itself has become a saturated market in terms of press relations and marketing so it is even more important that we export our experience and talk to the people at the top who are making the big decisions.
Business has dried up here because companies have created large marketing departments but this model has its limits when times are uncertain and I think we will see a return to companies using specialist agencies like OTL.
The Mortgage Group campaign cost £300,000 to create and has a £650,000-a-month budget.
Taking a nursery rhyme theme, it uses a cartoon family of pigs and a devious wolf to explain why people can trust The Mortgage Group.
The company wanted something that was accessible, not too serious and easy to understand so we came up with the idea of using animation,’ said Mr Timms.
‘We have created two animated adverts which are currently being tested and the feedback so far has been extremely positive.
As well as the Mortgage Group, OTL handle a number of ‘blue chip’ clients such as JVC, Palm Europe and Hamptons International.
In its 29 year history, the company has been involved in a number of high profile campaigns including the rebranding of Lloyds TSB, Allied Irish Offshore, Jersey Mutual and RBSI.
OTL is a niche full service agency that has a wealth of experience and a proven track record,’ said Mr Timms.
‘Over the years we have pursued a policy of attracting and retaining high calibre professional personnel to ensure that our creative and management capabilities exceed the expectations of our clients and this has allowed us to expand rapidly.
‘The local market is vitally important to us, but to retain this calibre of staff means that the OTL Group must continue taking our experience to other larger markets.
