Eight Jersey Scottish players in Island football squad

Flybe Combination Division I leaders Jersey Scottish have eight players in the squad, the other club’s represented are Jersey Wanderers, St Paul’s, First Tower, St Peter and Trinity.Eleven of the squad travelled to Jersey’s last game, a 1-0 last-minute defeat by Cornwall at St Blazey FC on 11 October.Striker Gary Freeman, Ryan Lumsden and Martin Paton all return after injuries.

Paton has only recently starting playing again since recovering from a knee injury sustained while winning an Island Games bronze medal in Jersey’s 3-1 win against the Isle of Wight in July.There is no room in the squad for Jersey player of the year David Lloyd of Trinity, who declined to travel to the match against Cornwall.The full squad is: Jimmy Styles, Martin Paton and Chris Andrews (all Jsy Wanderers); James Fortune, Lee Bradshaw, Glen Durrans (St Paul’s); James Brewster, Chris McNabb, Ryan Lumsden, Gordon Brodie, Charlie Smith, David Brodie, Ross Crick, Paul Aitken (Jsy Scottish); Casey Hickling, Chris Carter, John Rutter (First Tower); Gary Freeman (St Peter) and Allan Brown and Dave Le Roux (Trinity).The squad will have four training sessions together to prepare for the Dorset game.

Sessions are at the IJ Bathe Field on Sunday morning and next Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings at St Ouen, the Airport and Les Quennevais respectively.
