Jersey Irish lost the final to Clon Na gael by just two points in London last month.A Jersey team player recognised two or three players, ostensibly members of the Clon Na Gael team, as regulars in the Meath county side, and Jersey’s objection was duly reported to the Board.’We are 99 per cent certain that our facts are correct and we have the evidence to prove it,’ team member Dermot Harrison said.If their evidence is accepted, Clon Na Gael will be stripped of their title, but Harrison said: ‘It’s a real shame that this has happened, all the sportsmanship has gone out of it.

But if this sort of thing is allowed to happen there’s no point in us working so hard to raise the money to compete.

We play for the love of the game.’
