At 11 am, 85 years since the First World War ceased on the 11th day of the 11th month, guns will fire in the People’s Park and at Victoria College to herald the Armistice Day silence.States business will be suspended in the House and in States departments, private businesses and Island schools normal routine will stop for two minutes.The Bailiff, Sir Philip Bailhache, has asked all those wishing to mark Armistice Day to do so by observing the two minutes’ silence at 11 am.
