The women’s competition will take place in Guernsey and the men’s in Jersey, with six sides, four from Jersey and two from Guernsey, competing in the men’s for the trophy which, last year, was won by the Jersey Hockey Club Gobis.
This is an important event in the hockey calendar, and completes the commitment of the sponsors to the sport, from grass roots level to the pinnacle of the sport in the islands.It is also an early opportunity for the two islands to compare their respective merits after Guernsey secured their first inter-insular victory in 11 years last season.Within the islands, Evolution OV Convicts will also be keen to gain early revenge for their defeat by JHC Gobis in their recent JMHA Division I league match, so an extremely competitive tournament is anticipated.The competition will take place in two pools on Saturday.
Pool A matches will be at Jersey College for Girls between Evolution OV Convicts, the Guernsey team Tigers, and a Jersey Hockey Association XI.
Pool B will be at Les Quennevais between JHC Gobis, JHC Ormers and last year’s inter-club championship winners from Guernsey, Colombians.Winners and losers will then compete at Les Quennevais on Sunday with the final taking place at 2.30 pm.
