Centenier guilty of drink-driving

William Robert Spence (67), of Rue de l’Eglise, St Peter was fined £400 and disqualified from driving for 15 months for drink-driving on Route du Port, St Peter, at about 6.30 pm on Friday.The court heard that a police motorbike had followed Spence and saw him cross the white line a couple of times.Spence had no previous record and apologised to the court for what he said had been a very stupid thing to do.St Peter Chef de Police Chris Le Brun said that Spence had now left the honorary force.’He has already handed in his resignation,’ he added.

‘He did it immediately, with immediate effect.’ Spence was elected a Constable’s Officer in 2002 and has been a Centenier for about one year.
