And it is possible that all 280 members of the Jersey Hospitality Association will be urged to be there.’This is a budget which takes from everybody and gives to nobody,’ said Mr Weston.A mass protest is being organised by some of Jersey’s biggest trades against rises in taxes and duties which will be debated in the States on 2 December.
Representatives of the Jersey Motor Trades Federation, Estate Agents Association and Hire Car Operators Association have joined together to plan the protest, at which they hope 1,000 people will be there.Organiser Roger Trower said today that the response has been ‘phenomenal’.Mr Weston said that the committee of the Jersey Hospitality Association had not yet discussed the protest but that he would be there and he would be discussing the association’s official response in the coming days.Mr Weston believes the Budget will be bad for tourism and the economy.
