Environment under fire over bus route cuts

Caught in a ‘budgetary bind’, the committee had spent a large sum of money transferring the bus contract to Connex, then a year later proposed huge cut backs in services, said Deputy Roy Le Hérissier.A series of public meetings have been called for Islanders to air their concerns on the impact these proposed changes could have.Bus Users Forum member Deputy Geoff Southern and Deputy Celia Scott Warren have organised three meetings which will be held at St Peter’s Parish Hall on 2 December, the Town Hall on 3 December and St Saviour’s Parish Hall on 5 December.

All the meetings will be at 7.30 pm and members of Environment and Public Services have been invited to give their side of the story.

The Deputies are encouraging everyone who will be affected to attend because they believe cutting 12 routes from the schedule goes completely against the Bus Users Strategy.
