Five Oaks Garage to go under?

Many of the group’s showrooms stood empty after car manufacturers ordered unsold stock to be seized, forcing the group to cease trading. No statement has yet been issued by the group regarding the future of its large workforce or how warranties and orders already placed will be honoured.

Five Oaks staff did turn up for work as normal this morning, but refused to comment on their, or the company’s, situation.Meanwhile in England, owner of Jacksons and St Helier garages Tom Scott was in talks with VW, Land Rover, Jaguar, Citroën, Porsche, Audi, Aston Martin, Ferrari, Volvo, Maserati, Peugeot and Daihatsu in a bid to take over the Five Oaks business. He said that should his takeover bid be successful, he wanted to ‘protect the services to the customer and try to look after the employees as well’.However, he hinted that changes would have to be made if the group was to become profitable.A spokesman for Citroën in the UK said that the Five Oaks dealership had ‘gone into receivership’, but said he was ‘confident’ that a new buyer would be found within days.

He added he could not comment on whether the buyer in the wings was Tom Scott.
