Five Oaks garages remain in the dark

No one was answering the phones at the company’s sites in St John, St Peter, St Saviour, Trinity and St Helier, and the lights were off. There was also no word for customers, some of whom paid up front for cars but who were still waiting for deliveries when Five Oaks ceased trading on Thursday evening. Many cars driven off the forecourts last week are being held at locations around the Island on behalf of manufacturers until a buyer for the group is found or the franchises are given to somebody else. That new buyer could be the owner of Jacksons and St Helier Garages, Tom Scott, who has spent the past two weeks in negotiations with all manufacturers represented by Five Oaks.In addition, he has been buying up vehicles in the Island and said that he had now bought £750,000 of stock from Five Oaks ‘in anticipation of taking over’ the struggling company.
