The Royal Court heard that the boy ‘watched in horror’ as his father, José Caboz, repeatedly stabbed his mother, Maria, leaving a seven-inch kitchen knife lodged deep in her back as she crouched on the front door step of their Colomberie home in April last year.Although initially he denied intending to kill her, Caboz (33) was found guilty by an Assize jury in September of attempted murder and was sentenced for that offence by the Royal Court’s Superior Number.
It was only the second case of its kind to come before the Island’s courts.
He was also sentenced for assaulting his wife and brother-in-law on separate occasions and will eventually be deported.
