The Colomberie-based company has been given the licence from the French Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ART) to provide services in the La Manche region, which covers all of lower Normandy.

Newtel intends to extend its network into France in the first half of next year.

We have been working closely with the Conseil Général de la Manche, who are completing a fibre-optic network throughout the region,’ said Newtel’s chief operating officer, Jeremy Swetenham.

‘Our new licence will enable us to interconnect the fibre-optic capacity we control within the Channel Islands Electricity Grid with this network to serve customers in Normandy and the Channel Islands.

This new connectivity will also expand our links to Paris, London and other European Cities.

The result will be reduced costs and added resiliency for all our customers.
