Shotgun blast: Man ‘was given a death threat’

The Magistrate’s Court heard how Peter Botrel (53) allegedly drove around the town centre on Saturday morning looking for his victim’s van before shooting at the passenger windows.

There was nobody in the vehicle at the time.Police legal adviser Bridget Shaw said that the two men had been in ‘a long and bitter feud’ because the victim blamed Botrel’s daughter for his niece’s drug addiction.’The police have evidence from people in Halkett Place who apparently heard a shotgun being discharged at around 8 am on Saturday,’ said Mrs Shaw.

‘The shot was fired through the passenger roadside window as the car drove past the parked van and went through both windows.

Pieces of shot were found in the wall next to the car.’
