The meeting at the Pomme d’Or Hotel was called to examine strategies available to creditors in Jersey and Guernsey owed about £350,000 by the now defunct company and whose claims, so far, have met with no reaction from a French court appointed to administer the company’s affairs.Spokesman for the creditors’ group Michael Cotillard of Tantivy Blue Coach Tours said that the interests of 71 unsecured creditors were represented at the meeting.’This is an opportunity for all of those businesses in both islands to meet and discuss how the sums owed to them by Emeraude might be repaid.
Most of the creditors submitted claims to the French court in October but have heard nothing,’ he said.Parts of Emeraude were taken over by Sogestran – including running the ferry service – toward the end of last year but that company is not responsible for the debts of the former owners.
