Over 40 creditors attended a meeting at the Pomme d’Or Hotel and, according to group spokesman Michael Cotillard, there was a lot of anger expressed about the way the creditors had been treated by the former management of the ferry company.’Many said they were misled by the people who were responsible for running Emeraude and they also expressed a great deal of frustration at the lack of acknowledgment of their claims.
A French court was appointed to administer the winding up of the company that used to own Emeraude.
Many claims were submitted to the administrators as far back as October last year and yet they have received not even an acknowledgment of their claims,’ said Mr Cotillard.He said that the total debts outstanding to unsecured Channel Islands creditors were in the region of £370,000 but estimated that would climb to nearer £400,000 by the time all creditors came forward.
