Bowls:Jersey fours head for Wales

Although the Jersey fours lost in Guernsey in the CI finals, the winning Guernsey quartet included Alison Merrien who also qualified in the womens singles, pairs and triples.Jean Lowery of the Jersey Indoor Bowling Association said: ‘The British Isles championships rules state that a player can compete in only two events, and Alison chose to play the singles and pairs.

The Jersey four lost only by one end, so it will still be a good team representing the Channel Islands.’Unfortunately though, Gina Le Long is on holiday that week, having delayed making the booking until the CI finals had been decided.’It’s a shame for Gina, but Myrtle de la Haye will be taking her place and I’m sure the ladies – Myrtle, with Lindsey Greechan who will be moving up to skip and is competing in the ladies U25 singles, Brenda Foord and Gaynor Thomas – will give a good account of themselves.’The Guernsey ladies triples, who won the CI finals, have substitutes available to make up the three.
