Children in care homes ‘not at risk’

Andrew Williamson, who was appointed by the Council of Ministers to review child protection measures across the States in the wake of criticism of social services and children’s homes, has given an interim report to the politician in charge of child safety.

Assistant Health Minister Jim Perchard says that he expects Mr Williamson to make a full report in March on improvements to the system.

But he says that Mr Williamson – a former Devon social services director – has assured him that children currently in care homes are not at risk.
