Jersey Dairy say they do not want to increase prices but the rising operating costs of farmers, demonstrated by the recent departure of one dairy farm and the imminent closure of two others, had forced their hand.
A litre of milk currently costs between 89p and 96p, and the dairy said they expected shops to pass the increased cost on to their customers.
