Speaking at the Chamber of Commerce lunch, Mr Crowcroft criticised the £80 million project, saying: ‘Three weeks ago today I was given a mandate to oppose this latest example of States profligacy, unsustainability, lunacy.
‘On both economic and environmental grounds I am opposed to current plans for La Collette, which is the maritime gateway to St Helier, and as far as I’m concerned the campaign to stop the incinerator starts today. Stop burning, start recycling.’
At the lunch Mr Crowcroft also criticised the Hopkins plan for the Waterfront, including the Esplanade building project and the sinking of the road.
