New faces in Jersey squad to face Reading FC Select

Jersey Scottish midfielder Jack Boyle, who is still a junior, and St Paul’s left-sided player Mark Lucas are included in a senior squad for the first time while there are recalls for Trinity duo David Lloyd and Darren Swanson.

Lloyd, a winner of four Muratti caps, last played in Jersey’s 1-0 Muratti Vase replay win against Guernsey at Springfield in 2003 – the same year midfielder Swanson made his last Jersey appearance in the South West Counties Championship.

Kennedy said: ‘There are new faces and those coming in are being rewarded because they have all been performing well for their respective clubs.

Consistent

‘Jack Boyle has been a consistent performer for Jersey Scottish all season; in the early part of the season he was the outstanding player in Jersey football and thoroughly deserves his call up.

‘When I’ve watched St Paul’s Mark Lucas has impressed me and being able to play anywhere on the left-hand side of the team is a bonus.

Reading’s visit, again supported by the Wilde Family Office Limited, will again test the character of Jersey’s players as they take on opponents who are playing for the Premiership club’s Reserve and Youth Academy.

Jersey gave a fine account of Injury has ruled out midfielder Dave Brodie (Jsy Scottish) and striker Barry Beatson (Trinity) while St Peter utility player Jack Cannon misses out because of a suspension.

The match officials are Andy Cox (referee), Allister Moore, Russell Barry and Ray Sutcliffe (4th official).

Kick off is at 2 pm.
