Wheel clamping: action promised

After meeting the JEP’s Fair Play team last night, Home Affairs Minister Wendy Kinnard has promised action and intends to go to the States soon.

The Senator agreed that the matter was urgent and that motorists needed some kind of protection from excessive fines and allegedly intimidating enforcement officers.

Fair Play has been fighting for action over the non-regulation of private parking enforcement companies since the end of last year after scores of readers contacted the paper about their treatment. Yesterday’s meeting involved Senator Kinnard, her assistant minister, Deputy Andrew Lewis, Home Affairs chief officer Steven Austin-Vautier, the Fair Play team and members of the public who had been clamped, including Nick Le Cornu, who is still considering taking the matter to court.
