Flood damages bistro and flats

The Jersey Fire and Rescue Service were called to the building that makes the junction of David Place and Stopford Road at about 10 pm.

Water from a broken valve/burst pipe in a top floor flat gushed out and leaked through the floor.

Water supplies in the area had been cut off for three hours beforehand as part of planned work being carried out by Jersey Water. The flood happened at about the same time as the supply was reconnected.

The occupants of the upper floor flat were not home and as more and more water escaped, it caused part of the ceiling of the flat below to collapse.

The water then made its way down through that floor and into the restaurant below.
