Arts Centre is saved from fire

The man leading the firefighting operation said that the blaze was ‘very aggressive’ and could easily have been catastrophic.

Initial reports suggest that the main auditorium and the JACS cafe were not badly damaged.

Fire crews were scrambled at 6 am after being alerted to the blaze by an automated fire alarm. They arrived to find smoke pouring out from the roof above Providence Street.
