Aged 44, Gina is Durrell’s most senior orang-utan and a highly intelligent animal needing constant mental stimulation.
With this in mind, mammal keeper Emma Wells gives her paper and coloured crayons and, if Gina is in an artistic mood, she amuses herself by drawing. And her artistic creations are on sale to raise funds for the Sumatran Orang-utan Conservation programme.
