Shipping company moves port in UK

For the past 30 years the Channel Islands company has used MMD Shipping in Portsmouth for stevedoring and handling services.

But the board has now decided to opt for ‘full control and self-reliance in all aspects of the business’.

The new purpose-built facility at Southampton, which is due to be operational by the start of next year, will offer several facilities which are not currently possible at Portsmouth, including warehouse storage, bonded warehousing (for wines and spirits) and direct access to the UK rail freight network.
