THE bull semen debate may not be heard before the States’ summer break and could be deferred until September.
That was the message yesterday from the Scrutiny sub-panel looking into the proposition to lift a ban on bull semen importation.
Having met for the first time on Monday, nearly two weeks after the panel was formed, the panel are worried that they do not have enough time to bring the matter back to the States within six weeks – the time frame which was requested by the Chief Minister. The panel have written to Senator Frank Walker to highlight their concerns.
Deputy Patrick Ryan, the panel chairman, said that it would be tight, but they would be trying their best.
