From Alistair Gilson.
I SPENT the month of April in Jersey visiting my family. Jersey is a beautiful place with unique features, charm and character. One of the charms of Jersey is the Jersey cattle.
Indeed I would say they are a national heritage and certainly a breed to be nurtured, protected and kept pure.
I was horrified to hear that consideration is being given to importing semen of another breed to be used to cross-breed with the beautiful Jersey herd. There are few things in this life that remain pure and unadulterated – please keep your Jersey herd so.
Best wishes to all Jersey breeders.
