Double-decker buses

DOUBLE-decker buses could make a return to Jersey.

Transport Minister Guy de Faye told the States this week that he had extended Connex’s contract for the scheduled and school bus services for three years.

Their deal was due to expire next year, but Deputy de Faye opted to extend it for a £100,000-a-year cost reduction, investment in new vehicles, more services on eastern routes in the mornings and afternoons and a commitment to look at hybrid vehicles and double-deckers.

He says that the department want to bring a double-decker bus to the Island for trials on the routes from town to Gorey and from town to the Airport.
