Plans to expand WEB back on shelf

PLANS to expand the Waterfront Enterprise Board have been shelved by ministers in the wake of a Scrutiny report and last week’s Waterfront debate.

Deputy Chief Minister Terry Le Sueur told the States this morning that the proposition to create a Jersey Enterprise Board from – a States development agency to handle any property that the States want to dispose of – was being withdrawn.

The board would have been passed property from the Property Holdings department to dispose of or develop.

It was proposed after a review of the States multi-million-pound property portfolio suggested that much of it served no useful purpose and should be disposed of.

Senator Le Sueur told the States that the debate on the board would be put off so ministers could meet with the Scrutiny panel who had reviewed the proposals, with a view to putting forward an amended report.
