No leadership – just meltdown

No leadership – just meltdown

From John Avery.

IT is clear that we are now in a position in which to all intents and purposes the good people of Jersey have no coherent government.

Lately we have had the Chief Minister mislead the States over Harcourt; the Home Affairs Minister mislead the States over the child abuse inquiry; Senator Perchard, who was a director of WEB, resigning over the Waterfront; the Transport Minister losing a vote embarrassingly (for him) on freedom of access by developers over private land; the Housing Minister under fire on all fronts with regard to affordable housing and tenants’ rights; the Environment Minister threatening to throw toys out of his pram if he does not get his own way over Waterfront development; the Treasury Minister saying yes to GST even though 19,000-plus said no. We also have the Bailiff (unelected) making political speeches but not allowing Senator Syvret (elected) to do the same.

There are a few good eggs in the States but I believe that we must put the rest out of their misery.

We need a new government in Jersey and it won’t be long until we decide, thank goodness, as there is now no leadership in this Island, only political meltdown. It is time we put the establishment out to pasture.
