LES Mielles Golf Club won the Channel Islands final of the Hampshire seven-a-side tournament for the second time in three years on Sunday.

The Jersey club defeated Guernsey Juniors 5-2 on their home course to book a place in the quarter-finals to be played in the coming weeks.

Team manager Chris Frost was delighted with Les Mielles success. Frost said: ‘It was a good match; Guernsey has emerging talented players and they played well despite a couple of them being very young.

‘It’s the second time we’ve won the CI section in three years and we’re delighted. Golf is generally considered a game for individuals but everyone pulled together as a team and they were rewarded for their efforts.

‘At one stage we were up in six matches and down in one but a few holes later Guernsey were leading 4-3. In the end it was down to experience and knowledge of playing at home that got us through and over the second nines we put the match to bed quite comfortably in the end.’
