Plans in for skate park at the Harbour

PLANS to change the use of a car park in town into a skateboard park have been submitted to Planning by the Waterfront Enterprise Board.

The application comes four months after the States agreed that they would construct a permanent skate park on the site of a warehouse at the New North Quay by the end of this year.

Members voted 26 to 11 in favour of the scheme and today WEB applied to Planning to change the use of the former TNT warehouse, near the Sailors’ Rest café, into a skateboard park and various structures.

The equipment in the park is yet to be decided but could include a ramp, half-pipe and grind rails, said Neil Sprotson, WEB’s development manager.

The People’s Park, Fort Regent, the Waterfront and land off Victoria Avenue were all considered but after a proposition by Deputy Ben Fox (pictured), the States decided to build it on the New North Quay.
