HAMPSHIRE 400m hurdles champion Peter Irving is geared up for the race of his life as he vies for selection into the senior UK Olympic squad.
The Jerseyman says he will be out to ‘upset a few people’ this weekend as he sets his sights on Beijing at Olympic team trials in Birmingham this weekend.
Irving was invited to try out for the squad after a superb start to the season – despite only returning to training in February.
The CI Sporting Bet Channel Islands Club captain was sidelined for ten months with a foot injury, yet staged an incredible comeback to win gold at the Hampshire Athletics Championships in May, then ran a season’s best in last month’s British Athletics League meeting in Kingston.
