Board at fault in Bellwood case

An independent inquiry has found that the dismissal of former children’s home worker Simon Bellwood would have been considered unfair if it had gone to an employment tribunal.

Professor Robert Upex, chairman of the UK Employment Board, also found that Mr Bellwood’s dismissal was in breach of contract because he was not given enough notice.

As a result of the inquiry the States Employment Board have been advised to improve their employment procedures.
