Income support

Income support

From Peter Ward.

SINCE January 2008 people not earning high wages and those without employment have had to become part of the income support system. I am on this system, and am also under a GP.

The rent is allocated to Housing from it, but I recently found out, and not by a proper letter, that only a percentage of the rent will be paid. I will have to pay the rest.

This is impossible on what other income I have coming in. It seems that you are helped one minute, then not properly the next. What this means is that it leads to more stress. Our health system and social system need to help people get focused when in times of need.

I am proud of being a resident, but we need changes now. A voice needs to be heard among the decent folk who try hard in this society.

Enough of spin doctors. A real voice is now needed.
