Business Plan spending could go up by £13.5m

EXTRA spending totalling £13.5m has been tabled in late amendments to next year’s States Business Plan.

A total of 11 amendments have been tabled to the plan, which will be debated less than a month before the Senatorial elections and just over two months before the elections for Deputies.

The Business Plan sets out spending plans and budgets for each of the ten States departments for 2009. The original plan kept to a 3.1% spending increase, as stipulated by a States decision last year, but ministers have added their own amendment that would take the rise in spending over the 5% mark.

Amendments have also been tabled by the Public Accounts Committee, and Deputies Geoff Southern (pictured), James Reed, Celia Scott Warren and Roy Le Hérissier.
