HAUTLIEU will become the first school in the Channel Islands to offer the International Baccalaureate Diploma as an alternative to A-levels.
The school has now received confirmation that its application for IBO World School status has been approved, enabling it to deliver the programme from September 2009.
Head teacher Lesley Toms said that everyone at the school was delighted with the news. ‘With our 16-plus information evening on 21 October just a short time away, this could not have come at a better time for Year 11 Students,’ she said. ‘This is a very exciting development for learners across the Island and I would encourage Year 11 students and parents to consider the IB.’
To enable Hautlieu to offer this programme, there will be sponsorship from UBS. As part of the qualification, students will study six subjects and develop a wide range of learning skills. They will also undertake personal research, develop creative and activity skills and support community events.
