This generous man is an example to other millionaires

From John Beaumont.

DON’T you think it is absolutely wonderful that Father Christmas, in the form of David Kirch, has yet again returned to the parish halls to distribute his gifts to the senior citizens of Jersey?

It is quite remarkable to give away £1 million without strings attached, particularly when one thinks that here in Jersey we have literally hundreds of multi-millionaires.

Yet only one, Mr Kirch, has stepped up to the mark to share his good fortune and to remind us all what Christmas is all about, given in the name of love. I seem to remember something it says in the Good Book.

I quote: ‘It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the Kingdom of Heaven’.

It would be worth their while for all Scrooge-like multi-millionaires to remember their social responsibilities at Christmastime.

Mr Kirch has shown the way by his noble approach to those less fortunate than himself, and he is doing so in a period of world economic slowdown.

Well, I drink to your good health, David. Well done and long may you live.
