Family Nursing in good health, says minister

HEALTH Minister Ben Shenton has said that Family Nursing and Home Care is providing excellent services – despite the suspension of its chief executive Karen Huchet.

And he has refused to consider ordering his own independent investigation into the suspension as he said that the charity had already appointed an expert to carry out the exercise.

Ms Huchet was suspended in August after allegations of bullying made by staff members. During questions in the States on Tuesday, Senator Shenton (pictured) said that in recent times he had received nothing but compliments about the work being done by Family Nursing.

However, he came under sustained questioning from a number of politicians about the charity and the suspension in response to a question initially raised by St Helier Constable Simon Crowcroft. Senator Shenton was adamant that an organisation was bigger than any individual and said that the charity’s services would continue to be well run regardless of whether an individual was suspended or not.
