Political expediency?

Political expediency?

From Chris Fairbairn.

I JUST love the letters that, not dissimilar to a pin used to remove the meat from a winkle, get the dinosaur of local party politics out into the open justifying who they are and, more importantly, what they do.

Tuesday’s JEP was a demonstration of that process, following John Craddock’s very humorous letter (JEP, 22 November) questioning the JDA and its possible connections with the numerically misshappen party Time4Change, a distant relative (some say) of Phones4You.

If one reply wasn’t enough to get the message across, two had me spilling my M&S Meal4Two all over the kitchen floor. Deputy Geoff Southern’s response was almost a sad as the other one in Tuesday’s paper – written with less conviction that the author of a user manual for a steam iron – from David Rotherham, the ‘acting’ secretary of the JDA.

If ever there was a vote-catching pair of letters printed on the eve of an election, it must surely be those. So, well done the JDA. I think I’ll keep well away from them!
