A FACEBOOK group set up to try to bring Primark to Jersey now has over 1,000 members.
The We Want Primark in Jersey site, created by Stephanie Faudemer, has 1,221 members and states that ‘it is a petition for all the people who love Primark to try and get the States or whoever to build a Primark in Jersey’.
The page urges Islanders to sign up to the petition and states: ‘If we get enough people, maybe someone will listen’. News about the Facebook page comes after Richard MacKenzie, the new town centre manager, said that St Helier could benefit from a budget clothes retailer such as Primark.
Mr MacKenzie told the JEP that retail studies had shown that low-cost retailers such as Primark were what people wanted. The Facebook page claims that ‘Primark would make a fortune’ and there are already over 40 posts entered on the site, including one that said Primark could potentially replace Woolworths in King Street.
